Doodle Trails Puppy Rearing

We raise our Standard poodle & Goldendoodle puppies right in our home, alongside our family, as they are our family. This means they are exposed to all common household noises and experiences (vacuums, blenders, blow dryers, and other loud noises). They are raised with other dogs and cats. We socialize them with babies and children and they sometimes have experiences around wheelchairs and strollers.

The puppies spend time in their puppy area, in a crate during clean-up times and in our backyard. We get the crate training process started for you by keeping one open in their area, so that they begin to get comfortable with it.

We are happy to take you along on the journey as your puppy grows. We document this on our puppy Facebook page. We also set up video calls as requested and, if you like. At 5 weeks you are invited into our home for puppy pick day!

At 8 weeks, just before they go to their fur-ever homes, the puppies have their first vet examination, vaccines, and deworming and will be microchipped. They are sent off with this information, as well as a copy of our tips and tricks, and other goodies like a blanket smelling of their siblings.

We feed our dogs and puppies Purina Pro Plan Large Breed, specifically “large breed puppy” until they are at least a year old.

The first step is filling out our puppy application. Once we review and determine that you and your family would be a good fit for one of our puppies, we will send you a confirmation email and add you to the waitlist! Once pregnancy is confirmed, we update our social media and expecting families.

Please contact us for our full pricing. Deposit & Payment are as follows:

Non-refundable deposit: $200 (first 5 people on the waitlist pay this at the time of breeding)

Payment 2: $300 the week pups arrive

*Since we know how many pups we have at this point, we take $500 from the next people on the waitlist to fill the remaining # of spots, $200 of which is considered non-refundable*

Payment 3: $500 once puppy picks have occurred (5wks)

Payment 4: The balance is due at pick up, however you may choose to split it up more, before.

As mentioned above, once the puppies are 5 weeks we help to match future families with the puppy that best fits their lifestyle, needs and preferences. Usually this involves us showing you the puppies who are available that we believe will fit best with your family. We are usually able to accommodate individual preferences, however, if we believe that the puppy you are thinking won't be a good fit we will explain so that you can make the best decision. Please note, it is our goal to place puppies with the correct family based on personality and temperament, before physical qualities. This is to avoid the potential of pups needing to be rehomed, although we will always take back a puppy if needed. If you have questions about this please ask!

The best part, prior to you taking home your puppy, is that you get to follow along as the puppies grow and then pick yours up at 8 weeks! Our journey together doesn’t have to end there. We love to stay in contact and receive updates but we are also pleased to provide you with continued support and advice, once your pup leaves our home.
