Standard Poodles

Let’s start with Standard Poodles. This amazing breed is known for its non-shedding coat, making it ideal for allergy sufferers. They are adaptable and are great at reading their human’s emotions. They pass these qualities, as well as their intelligence, to their purebred and hybrid pups! They typically range from 45-75lbs and live between 12-15 yrs.

Goldendoodles

As you probably know, a Goldendoodle refers to the “designer breed” that is a cross between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. They typically have a lifespan of 10-15 yrs. Because they are a crossbreed, it is hard to predict which traits the pups will inherit from which breed. This of course includes size, coat and health. We specifically breed standard sized doodles, but our pups range in size when full grown, anywhere from 45-110lbs. If you are not ok with a large dog then our line may not be for you, although we can try to place the smallest pup with you. Our Doodles typically do not shed as there is more Poodle in our line. This trait has helped us to have great success placing our pups in families with allergies to pet hair. Please note that allergies may also be to pet dander, saliva and urine. It is important to remember that every pup is going to be different, however, Goldendoodles are generally very good natured and social with both dogs and humans. They are eager to please and smart, which makes them highly trainable. They enjoy their exercise equally as much as their lounging and snuggle time.

Bernedoodles

Bernedoodles are another amazing hybrid. Even though Bernese Mountain Dogs were originally bred for working hard on the farm, they enjoy being indoor family companions. BMDs are sweet, gentle giants. They are generally calm, loyal, and affectionate, making them ideal for families with young children. Standard sized Bernedoodles range in weight from 60-90lbs and their average lifespan is around 12-15 yrs.

A little more info

All 3 of these breeds require regular grooming/clipping every 6-12 weeks, with brushing in between. Keeping their ears clean and dry is especially important to avoid infections.

They generally all love to swim but it is important to note that all puppies must be watched when around bodies of water as they learn and grow. Losing a pup to drowning is not something anyone wants to experience.

Hip dysplasia and eye diseases are common genetic ailments for all of these breeds, however, our breeding dogs are all tested for them before breeding. Addison’s disease could also be seen in all 3 breeds due to Poodle genetics. Cancer is often a cause for the end of life for Doodles, but usually not until they have lived a long and happy one.

To recap, all of them are sensitive to their human's emotions, adaptable, intelligent and eager to please, which makes them a joy to train. You can’t go wrong with picking either of the three to add to your family. Whether you choose a Goldendoodle puppy, Standard Poodle puppy or a different Doodle, your choice will land you with an amazing new best friend.

When deciding to add a puppy to your family, please remember that it is quite a lengthy commitment and is comparable to starting at square one with a baby. There are interrupted/sleepless nights, messes to clean, teething to deal with and schedules to develop and adjust to. However, if you can push through some of the less luxurious aspects of bringing home a puppy, you will be in for the most rewarding relationship and form of love. Plus we are here to help!
